El Salvador History Tour:
Through Chencho's Eyes

November 12-16, 2006

Please join FSSCA founder Jose "Chencho" Alas as he retraces El Salvador's struggle for liberation, justice, and peace. You will:

  • Visit Suchitoto, where he introduced Liberation Theology to El Salvador in 1970 and began an empowering ministry that led to multiple assassination attempts and his eventual exile in 1977.
  • Spend time in Ciudad Barrios, where Archbishop Oscar Romero -- El Salvador's national martyr and saint -- grew up.
  • Hear first hand stories of the civil war from former guerrillas, former soldiers, and former refugees.
  • See how the communities of El Salvador's Bajo Lempa region are overcoming these challenges and this history to build a future of hope and dignity.
