Visit local self-sufficiency projects: innovative organic farms, sustainable use of endangered wetlands, and organized communities building dignified lives.

Engage in solidarity work alongside the campesinos in their projects;

Hear first hand stories of the civil war including the role of Archbishop Romero, the Jesuits, and the Maryknoll sisters;

Pause at the beachfront for rest as well as reflection on and discussion of the experience.


Every year, the tour schedule is a little different. The activities generally stay the same, but their order may change.

This itinerary reflects the activities of the Annual Summer tour.

Delegations and group tours done at other times during the year may be shorter or longer, and therefore may have different activities.

Day 1


Arrive at San Salvador International Airport.
Welcome to El Salvador. 
Brief orientation.


Day 2

Tour of Ciudad Romero
Meet with Community Leaders
Visit the organic agriculture training center


Day 3

Boat tour on the Bay of Jiquilisco
Visit protected areas and turtle hatchery


Day 4

Participate in a theater and puppetry workshop with local youth
Visit the Art Gallery, Mangrove Radio, and the Cashew Roasting Cooperative


Day 5

Day Trip to San Salvador


Day 6

Visit organic farms or volunteer work (tree planting, water projects, etc.)


Day 7

Rest and Reflection at the Costa del Sol (beach).


Day 8 


Departure from San Salvador International Airport. Return home.
